SUBANG JAYA: The Sri Maha Mariamman temple faction has claimed that fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim’s severed injuries were not caused by the rioters, but by an accident.
The secretary of the faction, V. K. Regu, said a fire engine was reversing in full speed and several individuals shouted that there was someone at the back.
“Their action to knock on the window of the vehicle was to warn about the person at the back but the warning was not heeded.
“He (Muhammad Adib) was not beaten up, instead, he was helped by the group after he got hit,” he said at a press conference at the temple here today.
Regu said his faction has evidence on the incident but did not lodge a police report.
“The group showed a good attitude. We helped them (the firefighters), but somehow we are still under attack,” he claimed.
In the early morning incident yesterday, Muhammad Adib, 24, a firefighter from Subang Jaya Emergency, Medical and Rescue Services (EMRS) unit was seriously injured after he was allegedly assaulted by a group of men in the riot. The fire engine was also badly damaged in the 1am incident.
A spokesman with the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department said Muhammad Adib, who was sitting in the passenger seat, was dragged out of the vehicle before he was roughed up.
